Overall Standings Pickem Results

Dave Berrong won Overall Standings Pickem with 553 points, 40 more than Matt Humpal's 513 in second place. Dario Ambrozwiez was the only other member to crack 500 points with 506 combined from MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL Standings Pickem. Andrew Senger & Brad Duff rounded out the top five. Berrong earned the five extra championship points for the victory along with the 21 other members to finish in the top quarter of all 87 members to participate in at least one standings pickem game.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated through all games. Michael Lytle jumped into the top ten the latest results. With a top score of 755.99 points before bonus points are added, each member's bonus point total up to 75.60 points will be added to the final, official standings. I hope to have everything sorted out by Wednesday night. Only four sets of bonus points remain to be ironed out, those from the Hockey & Basketball Standings Assignment (specifically from two of the 28 leagues), those from the NHL & NBA Playoffs Assignment, and those from member post counts & message board time logged in. I'll be double checking the championship points log as well, if you notice any mistakes, please let me know as soon as possible; once they're final, they're final.

NHL Standings Pickem Results

Congrats to Matt Humpal for winning NHL Standings Pickem with 132 points. Dave Berrong finished in second with 128 points, but earned the most championship points with 16.13 to Humpal's 16 due to the two of them tying Nick Hall for the most points earned from team point total picks, but his also having earned the most points from conference picks. David Synychak, Andrew Senger & Patrick Cooley rounded out the top five. John Wright earned the most points from division picks while Kevin Whorton earned the most points from playoff picks as the only member to pick the Kings to win the Cup. Only three others had them reaching the Finals.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated with the results. In the top 20, Matt Humpal jumped back in front of Aaron Freeman for 7th place and Dave Berrong passed Tyson Hester and Kevin Cheek into 14th. There are still four game results to be factored in before bonus points.

With the 2011-2012 projected standings now virtually the same as the championship standings, you'll notice the 2012-2013 Top 10 displayed in the second box on the left column of the front page. Congrats to those who've started well in the new season and to Brad Duff for currently occupying second place in both seasons.

NHL Playoffs Pickem Available

NHL Playoffs Pickem is now available. It is the penultimate game of the 2011-2012 season to begin.

If you signed up for ASFL2 after December 31st, 2011, you can participate, but you won't earn championship points as you aren't eligible for the 2011-2012 season.

The deadline for entries is 7:27 PM ET on Wednesday.

NHL Standings Pickem has been updated to reflect the scores through the end of the regular season. Matt Humpal leads Dave Berrong by a single point at 127 points heading into the postseason.

With the NHL Playoffs approaching, I'm putting an NHL Playoffs Assignment out there where I need some help to research for a potential NHL Playoffs fantasy game. I need volunteers to help me draft a league (or leagues) of six teams from the 16 teams in the first round of the NHL playoffs. I'm hoping to use the ASFL2 Chat Rooms to recreate a live draft, but am also taking lists for those unavailable the next few evenings. Anyone to help me with any draft will receive at least three bonus points. Read the first post of the assignment thread for more information. I'm hoping to repeat the process for each round of the playoffs and for the NBA playoffs as well.

Public Service Announcement

As I sit here watching the Flames visit the Blues (I can't say I know why I am), I realize it's time for another public service announcement. The NHL Center Ice package has a free preview through Sunday, October 23rd for those with the capability to access it. That's two plus weeks worth of free games (dating back to last Thursday's openers). It might help me pass the time on Tuesday and Wednesday with the football void, hopefully it's of some use to one of you out there.

NHL Standings Pickem Reminder

I type this exactly 24 hours away from the NHL Standings Pickem deadline for the 2011-2012 season (6:57 PM ET on Thursday). Please make sure to submit the standings portion of your entry before attempting to submit the playoffs portion. If you alter the standings portion, you may need to alter the playoffs portion as well. Make sure that you account for 82 games for each team and 1230 games total, evenly split.

NHL Standings Pickem is now available for its second run on the ASFL2 website. The deadline to submit your entry is Thursday, October 6th at 6:57 PM ET. Make sure you submit the standings portion of your entry before attempting to submit the playoffs portion.

In case you haven't followed the NHL offseason, the Atlanta Thrashers have moved to Winnipeg to become the reborn Jets. Due to the timing of the move in relation to the creation of the league schedule, the Jets will remain in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. The straight swap made my job of adjusting the game fairly simple, but no less tedious. Please let me know if you run into any problems. I dread a potential overhaul to the NHL's conference and division structure next season.

2010-2011 NHL Standings Pickem Results

With the Bruins 4-0 victory in game seven, the 2010-2011 NHL Standings Pickem standings remained unchanged from their state before the Stanley Cup Finals as no one picked the Bruins to lift the Stanley Cup.

That leaves John Wright with a comfortable, seven point game win at 175 points. Robert Casares was second at 168 points with Mike Brekke third at 162. Jay Soester and Brian Secord rounded out the top five. The top four finishers each took one of the four extra points for having the most divisional pick points, playoff pick points, conference pick points and record pick points respectively. Twenty-seven of the 32 participants picked 75% or more of the playoff participants for an extra point as well. Robert Boyce was just one correct team (the Lightning instead of the Devils) from earning an extra point for picking all 16 playoff participants.

Anders Nilsson finished in 11th place at 138 points, but Mike Miles was just a point back in 12th place, giving them both 11 championship points earned for the game. That moves the 2010-2011 Championship standings to 651-639 in favor of Miles with 20 points plus bonus points remaining.
