| MLB Day-to-Day Pickem Update |
9/2/10 |
The playoffs got underway yesterday with the majority of members picking correctly. Congrats to those who have made it this far. I'll be spending time each night after all MLB games have finished making sure the picks are being scored correctly. If a pick gets cleared out, please wait until morning to notify me that I need to fix it. If you notice something other than scoring acting incorrectly, please let me know.

| Server Problems |
8/5/10 |
The website's hosting service is having database and mail server problems and as a result, neither are working particularly effectively. Please email me your picks for Day-to-Day Pickem if you cannot enter them in yourself. Unfortunately, I have no control over the issue and will have to wait it out after alerting them to the problem.
UPDATE: Things are functioning properly again. |
| World Cup Pickem Results |
7/11/10 |
ASFL2 World Cup Pickem results are now official. Congrats to Gianfranco Lintas for winning the game with 287 points. Four other members finished within ten points of his total. The Bonus Points Standings have been updated with bonus points earned from the results. The Yahoo! World Cup Pickem bonus points should be factored into the standings within the next two or three days around me finally sending out the year-end newsletter and sorting out the upcoming drafts.
|
| CFL Pickem Available |
6/24/10 |
CFL Pickem is back on the message board for the third year in a row. Kevin Whorton will be in charge for the second year in a row. It was hoped to be moved to the website for the first time, but time ran out.
This is the simplest unofficial game offered as all you need to do is predict the four (or two if it's a bye week) winners of the CFL's games each week. Consider it a light warm up to NFL Pickem. No spreads, no confidence points, just winners. Unlike the NFL, the season is 19 weeks with each team playing 18 games. The postseason takes three weeks with a total of five games.
The scoring is just as simple. Each win is worth a point. At the end of the regular season each member's lowest score is dropped. The postseason is included in the final standings.

| MLB Day-to-Day Pickem Reminder & Improvements |
4/4/10 |
ASFL2 MLB Day-to-Day Pickem will kickoff as the first unofficial game to run on the website at 8 PM ET tonight. Make sure you get your picks in for day one by then or you'll be given -2 points for your first day.
Before the game kicks off, I've added two important features to the game. First, the entire admin team will be working to provide updated MLB Probable Starters to make picking a little bit easier and provide you information without having to go to an outside website. Second, the game will feature it's own article News & Notes section (lower right of the game front page) with articles about MLB & game happenings. Both will hopefully greatly improve the game experience for all participants.

| MLB Standings Pickem Reminder |
4/4/10 |
The deadline to submit and edit your entry for MLB Standings Pickem is tonight at 8 PM ET. Make sure your entry doesn't have any penalty points associated with it or you'll be giving points to the competition. There's also one instance where I'll need to manually edit in penalty points to an entry- if a member submitted the playoffs portion, but changed their standings portion which in turn changed their playoff seeding.
You'll be able to view all other entries once the deadline passes. Each member's name will link to their entry on the participants list and any standings page.

| MLB Day-to-Day Pickem Now Available |
3/15/10 |
The first unofficial game to be featured on the website is now available. Day-to-Day Pickem has been a part of this website since the ABL was being run, before ASFL2 existed. The game had it's own section on the message board and lasted for five seasons and now through two MLB seasons in ASFL2. I'm quite pleased to get a detailed, home grown game on the website.
Why participate in an unofficial game? Two reasons. The first is true of all unofficial games, bonus points. They're used to determine second teams in draft sports, to determine the participants in the ASASFL Third League and factor in to the championship point totals at the end of the season. The second reason is only true of ASFL2 MLB Day-to-Day Pickem, the league will be offering a non-trophy prize for the first time in it's history as the regular season and playoff champions will each receive a $10 credit toward a 2011 ASFL2 Money Leagues Fantasy Baseball team. That's up to 251 Mexican Pesos up for grabs or 1,801 Japanese Yen.
The game is very simple. Pick one MLB team to win each day. If that team wins, you gain points. If they lose you lose points. You can only pick an MLB team twice in a week. Click here for the full rules page.
The game also features detailed MLB Standings & MLB Schedules that could help you keep track of the season in general. |
| MLB Home Run Pool Now Available |
3/15/10 |
I had hoped to get the Home Run Pool on the website this season, but was unable to do so due to time constraints. Fortunately, Ryan Drzik has agreed to run it on the message board again this season.
Before the season starts you'll pick 12 MLB batters and watch them amass points via the home runs they hit through the season. Click the link for the full rules.
|
| Fantasy Formula 1 Available |
3/10/10 |
Due to Yahoo!'s decision not to run a Fantasy Formula 1 game, two members (Mikes Miles & Nathan Susanto) will be running an unofficial Fantasy Formula 1 game on the league message board. Click the link on the left side of the screen to participate.
|
| MLB Standings Pickem Now Available |
2/22/10 |
MLB Standings Pickem has been finished well ahead of schedule. You are now free to submit your entries. You'll need to submit the standings portion of your entry before submitting the playoffs portion. Your cumulative record must come out to 2430-2430 or you'll be deducted points. The system will automatically calculate your record and any penalties once you have submitted your entry. Please notify me of any bugs as soon as possible.

| NFL Playoffs Pickem Results |
2/9/10 |
NFL Playoffs Pickem standings have been made official with their results now factored into the championship standings pages. Congrats to Donnie Massey for winning on 23 points and Cecilia Elliot for earning the most championship points with 12. Only members who scored 11 points or more had their ties broken through the official tiebreaking procedure as that was the final score to factor into the championship points earned for the game.
|
| Olympic Hockey Pickem Available |
1/24/10 |
I had hoped to either create a complete Fantasy Winter Olympics game on the message board or create an Olympic Hockey pickem game run through the website, but I've had to focus my efforts in other areas of late and going forward. The game will still be available via this thread on the message board, simply reply with your entry in the format of the template to participate. Bonus Points will still be awarded based on the results.
|
| Fantasy NFL Playoffs Scoring Clarification |
1/10/10 |
Michael Jenkins fumbled for Dallas' defense after an INT on Saturday night with Reggie Brown recovering for Philadelphia. As a result, the Cowboys' defense has been credited with a lost fumble (-2 points) while Brown has been credited with a recovered fumble (+2 points). Those two stats won't show up in any of the displayed player stats on the game pages, but are factored into each's point total for the round.
|
| Fantasy NFL Playoffs Mistake |
1/10/10 |
I've accidently cleared out the Fantasy NFL Playoffs member database while updating the playoff stats. I coded an email log of entries as a back up for this instance, but to save time I didn't code a method for email logs of member log-in information. As a result of the latter, I've had to set everyone's password to whatever was used for NFL Playoffs Pickem, but I have added a link to the game page that will allow you to reset your email or receive an email reminder with your password.
My apologies for the inconvenience. The deadline for next week is next Saturday, January 16th at 4:27 PM EST.
|
| College Bowl Pickem Results |
1/8/10 |
The first game to be run entirely on the website in league history has completed and Bryan Crouch gets the distinction of winning it. You can view the final standings on the game standings page and the final championship point totals on the championship points standings page.
Remember the deadline for NFL Playoffs Pickem is tomorrow at 4:27 PM EST. That is also the deadline for Wild Card Round lineups in Fantasy NFL Playoffs.
|
| Fantasy Games Section Now Open |
12/13/09 |
With the debut of our first game, College Bowl Pickem, a new section for all games to eventually be moved onto the website from the message board or Yahoo! has been created. The hope is to have Fantasy NFL Playoffs & NFL Playoffs Pickem ready by the start of the NFL Postseason, but with Fantasy NFL Playoffs about halfway done, there's still a chance both will be on the message board this season. Watch the website and this section for updates throughout December.
|
| Unofficial vs Official |
12/13/09 |
The games are separated to the left based on their status with the league. Official games are part of our competition's game list and result in direct championship points earned. Unofficial games aren't part of the official game list and result in bonus points earned which can turn into championship points at the end of the season. They tend to be unique to ASFL2 at large, or at least hard to find elsewhere.
