MLB's schedule structure change really had an impact on early season DMUs. Due to the season starting off on Thursday with multiple games, gone are the days of passing the first DMU of the season and waiting for more options on day two. For those that want to go old school, opening night features a rivalry game with the Giants at the Dodgers with Tim Lincecum and Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Unfortunately, MLB provided little in the way of what look to be great matchups through the first weekend. The first five days of the season will feature just five DMUs. Each of the first three games of the Giants-Dodgers series, from March 31st to April 2nd, will have the distinction. Boston at Texas on Friday will also be a DMU as Jon Lester faces C.J. Wilson, while at the other end of the spectrum Atlanta at Milwaukee will be a DMU on Monday with Jair Jurrjens faces Chris Narveson. Only Sunday will be DMU-free through the first five days of the season. I hope to set DMUs for the second half of the first game week over the weekend.
