ASASFL Rules - The Drafts

Qualification | Drafts | In-Season | Timeline

Overview

ASASFL drafts will be slow drafts run through the league message board or website unless a live draft time run by Yahoo! can be agreed upon by all involved in a particular draft. Slow drafts will be used to try to create a fair way of player allocation as the likelihood of all fourteen members being able to make the same live draft time is low.
If a slow draft is used it will allow for those involved to have at least a few hours to make their selections with more time available earlier in the draft. Overnight hours are excluded from all time limits. Emailed draft lists are strongly encouraged, especially later in the draft to help speed things up as the longer drafts can take 2-3 weeks to complete. Each draft will have a page on the league website with updated picks posted as often as possible as well as the time guidelines for each round.
If a pick isn't made within the time limit, the highest ranked player by Yahoo! that fits into a starting spot which isn't already occupied by another drafted player will be selected by default. Once a team has had a chance to fill each starting spot on its own this rule will no longer apply and the highest ranked Yahoo! played available will be the default selection.
Draft orders will likely be determined randomly, but some consideration will be given to using the qualifying procedure as a means of draft placement determination. All drafts will be in snake format.
