Game Introduction

NFL Locks was the second official game to moved to the website in replacing a game that used to be run through Yahoo!. Survival Pickem was the preceeding official game run through Yahoo! prior to the 2011-2012 ASFL2 season. NFL Locks was created to provide a game which featured more of a challenge and less luck for success (compared to Survival Pickem), as well as helping to avoid a game full of tiebreakers. NFL Locks replaced Survival Pickem's place in Tier 4 of the official games list. Around the same amount of championship points are to be handed out with the change in games, but the switch has allowed for them to be awarded in a more traditional fashion compared to the league's other games.

The basic premise is the same as Survival Pickem's, pick the winner you're most confident in for the given week. But, NFL Locks expands that premise to require each participant to pick between three and five winners each week while also eliminating the limit of one pick per team per season. When picking your games for each week, you also need to assign a weight to each pick, worth between one and five points with no duplicate weights allowed. If your pick is correct, the weight value is added to your point total. If your pick is incorrect, the weight of the pick is counted against you.

In order to participate in the game, you need to click the "Sign Up" link on the game page. From there, enter your information as you submitted it to the members database (if applicable).

Once registered, use the "Submit Your Picks" page to enter your picks for the week. The numbers on the left side of the drop downs for each pick indicate the weight of your pick. You aren't required to pick five games each week, but for each pick less than three made in a week, you'll receive -15 penalty points from your score.

From there, you can check your progress by using the "Game Standings" page. The overall game standings and weekly game standings are available. As are the championship point standings and the projected championship points earned from the game.

To help you make your picks, the game provides, detailed NFL Standings, a grid displaying the results and schedule for all games in the season, and a stats section which features pick percentages and average weights for each game along with other information on team scoring breakdowns and member points breakdowns.

Non-ASFL2 Members are allowed to participate in the game, but are not counted for championship points purposes. They're listed on the standings pages by default (aside from those involving championship points), but can be removed by clicking the "Member?" or "M?" heading.
